Map of the repo
Iris is a staff application for synthetic SNAP Negative quality-control reviews. This wiki explains the current implementation, its tradeoffs, and where to make changes.

Start the zero to hero course for a guided explanation of the demo, exercises, and answer keys. For the 18 October 2026 meeting, read the director and procurement review pack and its 80-question FAQ. The proposal covers about 41 review staff, agency-hosted internal access, SPII controls, and internal delivery and maintenance.
The production architecture, cost and staffing model, delivery roadmap, testing gates, and program extension plan describe a new production build with reviewed selective reuse. They are proposals, not implemented behavior or approved budgets. These additions were prepared on 5 October 2026.
Read Your first day for setup and a small change walkthrough.
Then read Architecture,
Data and call flow, and
Tradeoffs. Use the system pages for behavior and the file
notes to find source and tests. The page filter searches navigation titles; use your
editor or rg to search code.
Scope and authority
Reviewed against the working tree on 25 September 2026, including migration 0007. These
HTML files are the maintained source for the app’s /docs area and can also be
opened from a checkout. The build compiles one article per route and a small searchable
navigation index. Existing local changes are included in the descriptions; deployed
environments may differ.
The review specification defines intended application behavior; the field inventory defines workbook fields and codes. The knowledge register records evidence and unresolved decisions. Use implementation status for coverage. If code and specification disagree, investigate the difference before changing a rule.
What the product does
Examiners complete household, benefit computation, and coded review fields. Supervisors and managers review work; PEC records policy decisions. Administrative roles import sample files, publish amount tables, and run reports. Export permissions are separate. All data and documents are synthetic. Non-drop supervisor routing remains blocked by an unresolved management defect map; seeded records can demonstrate later states.
The site integration is described in Documentation site, including build generation, navigation and linked source snapshots.

Terms used here
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| SNAP Negative | A quality-control review of a denial, termination, or suspension of SNAP benefits. |
| CAO | County Assistance Office; the computation grid’s Eligibility column represents its calculation. |
| PEC | The application’s PEC stakeholder role; records policy decisions. |
| FFY | Federal fiscal year: October through September. September 2026 is FFY 2026; October 2026 is FFY 2027. |
| Snapshot | The complete saved review JSON at one database version. |
| Projection | A derived copy of selected review data, kept in review_index for list and report queries. |
| Command | A named edit or workflow action validated and applied by shared domain functions. |
| Actor | The authenticated staff member’s role, staff ID, program, and reporting scope. |
| FNS / EPP | Federal transmittal and external EPP adapter outputs. Generating a TSV does not submit it to another system. |
